Introduction:
The statutory body of PSIC was established in 1972 with the mission to promote, sustained industrial development through provision of market driven credit, infrastructure and technological support contributing to employment generation, poverty alleviation and socio-economic uplift of the province.
2. In line with its mission to promote and develop small & cottage industry in the Punjab Province, this corporation maintains the following mandate:
- Promotion & Development of SSI sector through provision of credit assistance.
- Development & Maintenance of Small Industrial Estates with complete infrastructure facilities.
- Provision of business and technical support through its Service Centers.
- Development of Handicrafts and its marketing.
- Development of Technical Skills and Human Resource for the Industrial Sector.
- Census & Survey of small, cottage & household Industries.
3. In this spree, the corporation has done some excellent work in the past, commensurate to the changing environments and rising expectations of the stakeholders; summed up as below;

It had provided loan of over 3.301 billion to more than 12000 projects under its different credit programmes. |

Almost 3832 factories have been established on 6480 developed industrial plots in its 20-Small Industrial Estates. |

Over 48000 people are employed in the enterprises setup with the support of PSIC |

Support in term of new designs, marketing of services technical and Micro finance assistance to some 1100 artisans, craftsmen and women fold from Handicrafts , Carpet Industries, Embroidery, Gabba products have been provided free of cost. |

Up to 1999, PSIC had trained more than 17000 people in the art of carpet weaving and designing and producing skilled labour of about 35000 in the trade of mechanics, technicians, machinist, carpentry & masonry, etc. Thereafter these training centers were transferred to TEVTA. |
New Vision
In 2005 the PSIC Management envisaged to develop new Cluster Development Centers equipped with latest machinery/ technologies in the field of Light Engineering, Wood Carving and Seasoning, Auto Parts Die making and Hardening, Composite based material testing Lab for sports goods and Bakelite Electric fittings in the area of Daska, Faisalabad, Multan, Chiniot Lahore, Sialkot and Sargodha. Besides, a Support Service Center to facilitate growth of Handloom industry in Multan is in the wake of completion.
